It
has been a tough week for so many people on the east coast who are
bravely facing so many challenges. I couldn't imagine spending seven
days and nights without power. Despite the distance, I have thought
frequently of all those people, including family relatives who have been
in in the dark and had to deal with waiting over two hours for
gasoline.
As of this
morning, there are still over two million people without power. A
special shout out to the New York Unions who prevented non union workers
from out of state from helping so many people in need, you are all
idiots. You have helped me realize what my mom meant when she would
sometimes say, "People who do that cut off their nose despite their
face".
Another thing that
has stuck in my mind all week is the below photograph from the Tomb of
the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. The picture was
taken at the height of the hurricane. I have tried to word smith the
right interpretation or quote to get the most of the incredible image
and nothing seems quite right. It is just too close to what I hold so
dear which includes sacrifice, duty, and honor. Take a deep breath and
think what it means to you. I don't want to mess up such an amazing
photograph by putting words to it.
Finally,
please Vote! This is an incredibly important election and there are two
different paths in front of us. My brother John, insists I follow my
brain. As one of my four brothers, I usually head his advice. This time I
will not. I will follow my gut. It has guided me for all my life and
I would be foolish to not follow it now. Regardless of who you vote
for, take the time to do it. It is your duty. It is your
responsibility. Honor those who have given everything and what these
brave men represent. The best of America.
Enjoy your week!
