You Know You Have Boys When...

Earlier this week, Ryan our six year old son walked into the kitchen with a pair of needle nose pliers in his hand.  It reminded me that I keep threatening to lock our tool box to keep him and his two brothers out of it and the strange collection of tools inside.  I can never really lock the tool box despite my false threats.  I frequently recall, (not exactly fondly) my father's billowing voice throughout our home in Albuquerque, NM yelling, "Where are all my ¥$&!&! tools?".

Ryan was obviously proud of himself as he held up the pliers to Theresa.  It was then I saw it.

It was a fleshy colored something rather small and it seemed to be .... well ... moving!  With a certain air of authority, Ryan proclaimed, "Look at this!  I pulled a snail right out of his shell!"

Oh my gosh!  My first thought was, "Is Ryan being mean to animals?" Then looking at Theresa's shocked face, his sense of pride and accomplishment, I just busted out laughing.  It was hilarious.

On a more serious note, many of you are aware of a local family that faced a very tragic situation this past week.  Life is not fair.  It rarely is.  Our community have those impacted by this tragedy in their thoughts and prayers in hopes you will heal quickly.

Sincerely,
Ray and Theresa Shay
