At the CSA Advisory Board Meeting last week a proposal was made to replace all the grass on the north side of 4S Ranch Community Park. A more detailed and complete report concerning this proposal is expected to be presented next month.
In a nutshell, per the County of San Diego they are spending about $87,000 a year of recycled water to maintain this area annually. Due to the large number of users, including soccer, baseball and other sports teams the grass is unable to keep up. Park staff explained it is having significant difficulty in keeping the grass surface in good shape.
Evidently there would be no new taxes to pay for this expenditure and money has already been set aside for these improvement. Both positive and negative aspects of artificial turf fields was discussed at the meeting.
The County of San Diego will be completing a report outlining the proposal and the impacts it may have in our community and this outstanding sports facility. Let us know how you feel about this proposal by clicking on the link below and we will get all your comments to the County of San Diego.
